Strong international network

Saxony’s microelectronics and software industries continue to grow and are among the state’s most important engines of economic development. The region benefits from a unique combination of industrial manufacturing expertise, outstanding research, growing software capabilities, and strong international networks. Silicon Saxony Days 2026 once again showcased this strength: More than 2,000 experts, 35 represented nations, and over 80 startups turned Dresden Airport into a key meeting point for the European and international semiconductor and high-tech community. For SEMECO, Silicon Saxony Days 2026 offered a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and gain new momentum. With its own booth and several contributions to the program, the innovation cluster presented itself as part of the strong and diverse Silicon Saxony innovation ecosystem and as a bridge between microelectronics, medicine, and digital healthcare.

SEMECO on the Main Stage

SEMECO also had a strong presence in the Silicon Saxony Days stage program. On the Main Stage, Prof. Jochen Hampe and Prof. Gerhard P. Fettweis introduced the cluster and its mission. Their talk focused on the role of microelectronics as a key driver of connected and trustworthy healthcare. In doing so, SEMECO positioned itself both at the booth and on stage as an interface between research, clinical application, and industrial implementation.

Medical Microsystems at the SEMECO Booth

The SEMECO booth brought together partners from research, industry, and application. Selected projects from the cluster ecosystem presented prototypes and offered insights into current developments, including VitaTrust, DataCT, CoreSense, HospiTrack, MedIDGuard, and HybridEcho. Together, the project partners demonstrated the broad potential of secure medical microsystems from trustworthy connectivity and new data transmission technologies to intelligent sensor platforms and applications for patient safety, clinical workflows, and advanced imaging.

Exchange with Politics, Industry, and International Delegations

Visitors to the SEMECO booth included Saxony’s Minister President Michael Kretschmer, State Secretary Sebastian Scheel from the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Climate Action, as well as delegations from the Netherlands and Flanders. The visit by Matthias Diependaele, Minister-President of Flanders and Flemish Minister for Economy, Innovation and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Digitalization, and Facility Management, along with Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Regional Minister of the Province of North Brabant, underscored the European dimension of the event. It also highlighted the importance of international cooperation for resilient innovation and semiconductor ecosystems. The intensive exchange at the booth, the strong interest from politics and industry, and the conversations with international guests made one thing clear: the future of trustworthy medical technology is built together.
