On September 6, Saxony’s ministries opened their doors to the public in Dresden. SEMECO was represented at two locations, giving visitors the opportunity to try out technologies, talk directly with researchers, and learn more about current developments in medical technology. The HybridEcho team presented its work at the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Climate Action, while the Barkhausen Institut showcased the TrustMod project at the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism.
Exploring medical ultrasound with HybridEcho
What can actually be seen in an ultrasound image, and how are these images created? The HybridEcho team invited visitors to explore these questions for themselves. At the interactive exhibit, researchers demonstrated current developments in medical ultrasound technology and explained how new approaches could support future applications in diagnosis and patient care. Visitors were able to test the technology, examine ultrasound images, and discuss the research directly with the team.
Why secure connected medical technology matters
At the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism, researchers from the Barkhausen Institut presented their work within the SEMECO TrustMod project. The exhibit showed why security and trust are essential as medical devices become increasingly connected. Colleagues from the Connected Robotics Lab and Public Outreach team answered questions and discussed with visitors what secure connected medical technology can look like in practice. Among the guests were Saxony’s Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow and State Secretary Prof. Dr. Heike Graßmann, who took the opportunity to explore the exhibit and learn more about the project. Their visit was one of many conversations throughout the day about how connected medical systems can be designed to be both useful and trustworthy.
