Stark-Watzinger: Our innovation system needs more excellent networks

German Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger explains:

Our innovation system thrives on rapid and intensive exchange between science, industry and society. This requires more excellent networks that connect all relevant partners in a region. The seven new future clusters will now each receive a maximum of 45 million euros in funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for up to nine years. Their concepts have convinced us. Promising ideas and a pioneering spirit come together here to boldly bring innovative research into economic and social application more quickly. They demonstrate visionary potential and innovative spirit in emerging fields of technology and knowledge, provide a breeding ground for start-ups and think about the training and further education of skilled workers at the same time. In this way, the interaction in our clusters becomes more than the mere sum of individual solutions. In this way, we ensure that Germany remains a country of innovation in the future.
