Smart medical technology as a driver of innovation

Prof. Dr. med. Jochen Hampe, physician at Dresden University Hospital and project co-coordinator of the SEMECO future cluster, sheds light on the digitalization status of medical technology in an interview with Torsten Redlich in the Secunet podcast “Sprechstunde IT-Sicherheit”.

Data is constantly being collected in everyday medical practice, but only 20% of medical technology devices are connected to an IT infrastructure and therefore offer the potential of distributed data processing. Initiatives such as the SEMECO future cluster aim to make networked and cloud-native medical technology the standard in the future.

In the podcast, you can find out about the opportunities and challenges for smart medical technology and which research projects are already showing the first positive effects.
